Abstract The article proposes a division of the Pazyryk culture sites from the steppe valleys of the mountain Altai according to landscape-and-geographical principle − along the Katun-Chuya ridge into west and east habitats. A review of basic sites within the limits of the two habitats revealed differences in their number, location and burial inventory, confirming the existence of the two habitats.
