This article presents the analysis of using the term “implication” and its analogues in linguistic works devoted to pragmatics. The main problems considered in this paper are the ambiguity of these terms, as well as the absence of a unified system in naming similar phenomena with their help. In the article conclusions are drawn that the most common analogue of the term “implication” in pragmatics is the term “implicature”, which is used to designate implicit information in the statement. Along with this term the notions of impliciture and explicature are also used.
