Some practitioners and researchers criticise the concept of bullying and suggest it replaced with e.g. conflict or harassment. We discuss the challenges enacted by the problematisation and propose a joint effort to improve both the conceptualisation and our cooperation in reworking it, while keeping bullying research dynamic and relevant. In our contribution, we view bullying as a socially enacted phenomenon with strong individual effects; we outline what a conceptualisation of bullying should take into account and suggest approaching some basic bullying mechanisms by combining the concepts of longing for belonging and social exclusion anxiety.
