Peculiarities of the Russian Colonization of Manchuria at the End of the Xix - The Beginning of the Xx Century

The article is devoted to the problem of the cultural transformation of new space at the stage of the frontier existence in Manchuria in the Far East. The authors consider the Russian emigrants’ activity and the changes in Manchuria’s cultural landscape provoked by colonial development. New territory developed simultaneously with the Russian Empire, but it was a territory of innovations. The paper introduces the notion “colonial bioprospecting”. Bioprospecting played a considerable role in the colonial expansion of the Russian Empire in different historical periods.
