Universal properties of quasiparticle excitations, such as fusion and statistics of anyons in two dimensions, play a central role in characterizing quantum phases of matter. Here, the authors develop a systematic framework to describe fusion and statistical processes of fractons and other quasiparticle excitations with subdimensional mobility. The restricted mobility of excitations leads to statistical processes that differ dramatically from more familiar braiding processes of anyons.
