In this article, a new transformerless inverter is proposed for grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) applications. The proposed topology, which is called Asghar inverter, is combined of four active switches and two diodes. The leakage current, which is one of the main problems in grid-connected PV applications, is deservedly limited in Asghar inverter. Furthermore, the proposed inverter can develop a four-level voltage, and thus, it can reduce the total harmonic distortion of the output voltage, and filter size. Voltage boosting capability is the other interesting feature of the Asghar inverter. The developed peak value of the output voltage can reach to 1.5 times the input dc voltage. The feasibility and viability of the Asghar inverter is proven through simulation and experimental tests.
