The effects of depression and anxiety on children's suicidal ideation: Focus on mediating effect of self-esteem

본 연구는 최근 들어 급증하고 있는 청소년의 자살과 관련하여 개인의 심리적 요인에 초점을 맞추어 청소년의 우울⋅불안, 자아존중감, 자살생각 간의 영향관계를 검증하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 2019년 공개된 13차년도 한국복지패널 데이터를 활용하여 우울⋅불안이 청소년의 자살 생각에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 우울⋅불안과 자살생각 간의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 본 연구의 분석대상은 13차년도 한국복지패널 조사대상자 중 청소년 391명의 자료이다. 자료분석은 빈도분석, 기술분석, 상관관계분석, 중다회귀분석, sobel test를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 첫째, 청소년의 우울⋅불안은 자아존중감에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 청소년의 우울⋅불안은 자살생각에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향력을 미치며, 우울⋅불안이 높을수록 자살생각도 많아지는 것을 알 수 있다. 셋째, 청소년의 우울⋅불안이 자살생각에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 마지막으로, sobel test 검증결과를 통해서 우울⋅불안과 자살생각의 관계에서 자아존중감이 부분 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 우리나라 청소년의 우울⋅불안 문제의 심각성을 인식하고, 예방과 문제해결을 위한 방안에 대하여 제언하였다.This study focused on the psychological factors of adolescents who have recently increased their suicide. To this end, this study examines the effects of depression and anxiety on adolescents suicidal ideation using the 13th Korea Welfare Panel Data released in 2019 and examines the mediating effect of self-esteem in the relationship between depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation. It was. The subjects of this study were 391 adolescents among 13 subjects of the Korea Welfare Panel Survey. Data analysis methods were frequency analysis, technical analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and sobel test. As a result of this study, first, depression and anxiety of adolescents had a statistically significant effect on self-esteem. Second, depression and anxiety of adolescents have a statistically significant influence on suicide thought, and the higher the depression and anxiety, the more suicidal thoughts. Third, depression and anxiety of adolescents had a negative effect on suicidal ideation. Finally, the results of the sobel test showed that self-esteem had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation. On the basis of these findings, we recognized the severity of depression and anxiety problems in Korean adolescents and suggested ways to prevent and solve problems.
