The article is devoted to the formation of such sphere of traditional culture of the Kazakh people as traditional medicine.The authors defi ne the concepts «traditional medicine», «folk healer» and comprehensively consider their place in the people's life.When writing the article, the authors relied on researches on traditional medicine and new, previously unknown data.They also sought to reveal the causes of historical evolution or stagnation of the Kazakh traditional medicine in different periods.
