Efficiency of a mine is largely governed by the marketable product quality and minimum loss of useful minerals. This study focuses on creation of an efficient real-time quality control with a view to modeling coal flows for the pu rposes of production planning and management. A brief description is given to a hardware and software system designed for rock quality control based on the preset coal/barren rock ratio by means of acquisition, collection, processing and storage of data from primary radioisotope measurement instruments. The theory and application of instruments for noncontact compositional analysis of ore are described. A measurement system is composed for the described method implementation on the main conveyor belt. The measurement system is synchronized with weighing systems of the conveyor in order to obtain the quantitative and qualitative figures of production. The software to support the control system operation is described. It is concluded that the control system is expedient for information of personnel of the mineral quality and transition of this information to a mine’s MES-system for the performance assessment and mining cost assessment.
