This paper seeks to develop a mathematical system to compare machining process parameter optimization done by multiple methods. An end milling experiment performed with Inconel 825 with material removal rate (MRR) and surface roughness (Ra) as responses is taken as reference. The results are optimised using Grey relational analysis, Fuzzy logic and TOPSIS methods. Three cases for manufacturing processes are considered namely balanced manufacturing case, high speed manufacturing case, high quality manufacturing based on the difference in focus given on quantity and quality. A mathematical parameter called ‘Index of difference’ is also developed and is calculated for one of the cases and this parameter can be used to compare large scale optimizations.
