This paper presents the development and application of a set of 32 "satisfactions statements." In a nationwide survey of 1,000 households, the male and female heads-of-house-holds were each asked to evaluate the importance of each of these statements in relation to each of three of their favorite leisure-time pursuits (selected from a list of 50). These statements were found to have meaning to respondents and to cluster into interpretable factors both across all pursuits and in relation to specific pursuits.
