The exponential demand for power has led to serious concerns related to reliability and efficiency when transporting power to far-flung areas. The power grid is an essential arrangement for distributing and delivering the power from different power stations to customers. Monitoring of this electric grid is now the key module in the power grid system and it prevents the entire system from unpredictable power disturbances, inflexible energy rates, outages, unnoticeable frauds. Advanced technologies like edge computing, 5G, AI have revolutionized the power system to the smart grid. Data visualization, load forecasting, failure prediction, self-healing along with edge computing make smart grid convenient by reducing delay and providing faster responses. The definitions of SMART Grid and Edge Computing are discussed in the first session. Later the review is done and analysis is made on the effect of Edge Computing on SMART Grid by illustrating a few Smart applications. This paper will give an overview on Edge Computing Application on Smart Grid and what are the advantages of Smart Grid over existing conventional grid.
