Self-awareness among educators on new technology, especially with digital tools is essential to cultivate student attention during online classes. Nevertheless, most digital tools are not designed based on education, but rather for entertainment. The features of the digital tools are limited. Most novice designers cum educators understate the functional and technical aspects of applying digital tools. Thus, this study examines the compellingness of the applications using digital tools based on the selected features in the development of applications with the DST concept. A preliminary study was carried out to seek research requirements via an online survey. Nine samples of digital storytelling tools were selected to compare the features of the tools. Two reviewers are appointed to examine the applications via a rubric. Data were collected and analyzed descriptively using a mean test. Findings show that the applications have a high perceived compellingness and are shown to meet the DST elements.
