This is a well-reproduced "Proceedings" of a conference held in 1972 among investigators from North, Central, and South America. Major attention was given to developments occurring during recent years, and the entire focus was on the particularly important problem of malnourishment and the developing brain Dr. Herbert G. Birch was responsible for several of the summaries, and his leadership in pulling the conference together is evident in these pages. In some ways then, the book stands as a testament to his splendid work and emphasizes the extent to which his premature death will be felt by those interested in human behavioral development.
