The article discusses the crisis of Russian science associated with the reduction of international contacts between Russia and developed countries in the scientific and technological sphere. In the current situation, we can only state that Russian scientific institutions, Russian science as a whole, weakened by failed reforms, are in state of economic (equipment, reagents), information (journals and other scientific publications) and symbolic (“assignment” of scientific statuses) dependence on science in Western countries. The main risks for Russian science are associated with (1) a sharp reduction in funding, (2) a narrowing of the demographicbase and the outflow of scientists from the profession, as well as (3) a general decline in the quality of ongoing research. The article proposes a number of interrelated measures to support the Russian scientific and technological sphere, which make it possible to preserve science as a resource for the country’s development.
