The paper is devoted to the study of the possibilities of electrical energy generation using wind turbines in some regions of Eastern Ukraine. It is proved that diversification of electricity production in the region and investments in the development of renewable energy sources will help overcome the crisis situations in the energy sector. Preliminary processing of statistical data on wind speed for the city of Severodonetsk (Luhansk region) according to the results of which models of low-power wind turbine generators with a vertical axis of rotation were selected, and the calculation of the electricity produced by them was carried out. The dependence of the initial conditionally single power of wind turbines, which was used in the calculations of the average monthly and average annual generation indicators, is proposed. A comparison of generation indicators for three models of wind turbine generators was made. It showed that the most effective for use in this region are models that work in conditions of relatively small starting and rated wind speeds.
