Intensive blood pressure control reduces adverse cardiovascular outcomes in older hypertensive patients without increasing adverse events, and likely offers similar benefits to those with diabetes.
Aggregate trial evidence shows that intensive BP control (<120 to <140 mmHg) reduces the risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes in older hypertensive patients in the general population with no increase in adverse events.
