From these considerations one may conclude that an ataxic or, if one wishes, a truly tabetic form of polyradiculoneuritis exists, pathologically as well as clinically. The pathological complex is represented by intramedullary nerve fiber degeneration in the spinal cord, preponderant in the middle root zone of the posterior columns and in the columns of Clarke.
