The IT sector has traditionally shown gender gaps in the labor market, and the COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted this issue. As more people have been forced to adopt remote work arrangements, there is potential for this disruption to have a positive impact on future work arrangements. Drawing on existing research on remote work environments, we discuss the effects of the pandemic on IT jobs and how women experienced these changes. This new era of telework may present an opportunity to recruit more women into the sector and address the gender disparities that have long existed.
