Introduction. The challenges faced by Ukraine during the military operations of the russian federation (rf) increased the need to strengthen the economy, the military-defense complex, and the country's national security. A decisive role in this process should be played by the aluminum industry, the development of which largely depends on the state and prospects for the development of the raw material base. Materials and methods. The methodological basis of the study is a systematic analysis of the state and problems of the development of the raw material base of the domestic and global aluminum industry, generalization of information, statistical methods of data collection, data processing and forecasting. Results and discussion. The situation in the aluminum industry from the moment Ukraine gained independence to the present time is considered. The state and prospects of the domestic raw material base for aluminum production were studied. The reasons and consequences of reduction and stoppage of production capacities are discussed. It was determined that due to the negative consequences of privatization, in 2011, Ukraine lost its status as a producer of primary aluminum, without receiving the compensation and expected investments for the creation of new promising productions. Based on world and domestic experience, ways of innovative development of the raw material base of domestic aluminum production using the existing scientific and technical, production and resource potential are proposed. The necessity of determining the strategic directions of the revival and modernization of the aluminum industry in Ukraine in the post-war period and for the future as part of the development of the "State Program for the Development of the Aluminum Industry of Ukraine until 2050" is shown. Conclusions. In order to ensure the national security of the state and reduce Ukraine's dependence on the world metal market, the primary, medium and long-term tasks in the aluminum industry should be the restoration of enterprises destroyed by the war and the selection of promising directions for its growth based on modern achievements of science and technology. An urgent task is the revival of the closed cycle of aluminum production in Ukraine, the expansion of the raw material base by improving equipment, the development of technologies for the processing and enrichment of domestic bauxite, the study of the possibility of using aluminum ore raw materials with a low content of useful components and a high content of iron. The creation of world-class Ukrainian aluminum production requires the development of a Concept and the corresponding State program for the development of the aluminum industry for the period until 2050, which provides for the development of the raw material base and the provision of the economy's needs for competitive aluminum products, the organization of state regulation regarding the optimal use of raw materials and energy resources.
