Significance Thailand is devoting more attention to foreign policy under Srettha. The fallout from the 2006 and 2014 coups adversely affected its foreign relations, but it retains an important position in South-east Asia due to its alliance with the United States and close ties with China. Impacts Bangkok will stick to its neutral position on the Russia-Ukraine war. Thai officials will find it difficult to attract foreign investment for the project to build a road-and-rail land bridge in the south. Although tourist arrivals should increase this year, they will not attain pre-pandemic levels.
