The historical ebb and flow of sports exchanges between North and South Korea have closely mirrored the fluctuations in their diplomatic relations.Flourishing during times of amicable inter-Korean ties and dwindling during periods of tension, these exchanges, though occasionally interrupted, have displayed remarkable resilience, distinguishing it from other spheres. This uniqueness stems from the ability of sports exchanges to transcend political boundaries, a quality proven to be instrumental in international politics and the intricate history of North-South relations.Acting as crucial conduits during times of strained national relationships, sports exchanges serve as vital channels for diplomatic engagement.Currently, inter-Korean sports exchanges find themselves in a state of suspension due to the far-reaching impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and prevailing political circumstances. However, the recent participation of North Korea in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games hints at a potential revival in international sports engagement, foreshadowing the imminent resumption of inter-Korean sports exchanges. This thesis addresses the current strain in inter-Korean relations, offering innovative perspectives and strategies for the future of sports exchanges.Firstly, it recommends the establishment of regular and systematic sports exchange meetings or creating permanent organizations between North and South Korea to fortify communication and cooperation. This approach facilitates preparedness for unforeseen circumstances and lays the groundwork for sustained exchanges.Secondly, a corporatecentric approach is proposed for driving sports exchanges, acknowledging the pivotal role that corporate involvement can play, especially in situations where government-level dialogue encounters obstacles.
