This study is a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pre-posttest design to determine the effectiveness of a unification education program developed for nursing students on their perception of unification and North Korea, global citizenship, and nursing professionalism. The literature review served as the basis for the development of the eight-session unification education program. This study selected 30 experimental and control group respectively among nursing students in city C. The unification education program was applied to the experimental group from March to June in 2022, and data were collected through online questionnaire from subjects who participated at least 6 out of 8 sessions of the program.SPSS/WIN 28.0 program was used for data analysis.Frequency, mean, SD, t-test, χ², Fisher's exact test, and ANCOVA were used to analyze the general characteristics of the participants, homogeneity test between two groups, and the effectiveness of the program. As a result of the study, the perception of unification and North Korea on experimental group showed a more positive attitude than the control group.Among sub-categories of unification and North Korea, the necessity of unification (χ²=8.35,p=.041), the knowledge about the North Korea (χ²=20.40,p<.001), and when unification would be possible (χ²=7.86,p=.031) showed significant difference between two groups.Global citizenship was significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group (F=5.62,p=.021).However, experimental group showed higher scores in nursing professionalism than the control group, but there was no statistically significant difference.Unification education can contribute to nursing students' positive perception of unification and North Korea and improvement of global citizenship, so it should be conducted continuously in the form of curricular and extracurricular programs.
