At present, one of the main issues of international trade concerns the growth of selling counterfeit products, which is characteristic not only for developing economies, but also for developed ones. In fact, the production of counterfeit products is considered to be one of the economic crimes associated with the illegal use of someone else's intellectual property. In this regard, studying and comparing the methods of counteracting and combating this phenomenon in countries with different levels of economic potential and geographical location as well as analyzing the mechanisms used in Russia to identify counterfeit products and bring violators to justice make it relevant. This article also focuses on the modern channels for distribution of counterfeit products through online sales on marketplaces that have become popular with consumers around the world during a pandemic period. It is characteristic that this problem is noted not only among state authorities, but also among well-known online retailers, both abroad and in Russia. Finally, the result is supposed to become positive only in the case of joint efforts of entrepreneurs, regulatory authorities and directly consumers.
