Sepsis-Induced Coagulopathy: A Prelude to DIC

: Critically ill patients with sepsis are at high risk for bleeding complications. Systemic infection and its associated inflammatory cascade can significantly alter the balance of native coagulation/anticoagulation systems as well as influence platelet function and the integrity of fibrinogenesis.
