The modern vector of the development of Ukrainian society, caused by the war with Russia, world globalization, directs value orientations to the preservation of Ukrainian statehood through the overcoming of legal nihilism, the formation of a high legal culture, an active, conscious civic position of each person, which, obviously, actualizes the need for legal education, legal upbringing, legal educational work with students. The article analyzes some aspects of the substantive characteristics of legal educational work with students of primary education, presented in scientific discourse. The need for legal education, legal education, and legal educational work with students in the plane of the modern vector of the development of Ukrainian society has been updated. The main definitions deepening the substantive characteristics of the phenomenon of "legal educational work" are analyzed: "law", "legal education", "legal work". It was found that the concept of "legal education" is characterized by scientists in broad and narrow contexts. In particular, in a broad sense, the legal education of an individual is interpreted as a versatile process of influence on his legal awareness and legal culture, which includes the influence of the social system of life, current legislation, legal practice, moral atmosphere, traditions of society, education and social training. Scientific positions on the essence, content of legal education, tasks that must be solved in the process of legal education of education seekers are presented. The correlation of the content of the concepts "legal education", "legal work", "legal educational work" has been clarified. It is summarized that legal educational work is both a means and a direction, an integral component of legal activity. The author's interpretation of the concept of "legal educational work" is proposed as a system of measures aimed at the use of the necessary psychological-pedagogical, legal and special knowledge, abilities and skills, which will allow students of primary education to form a high level of legal awareness, develop skills and habits of lawful behavior in them.
