Mimulus violaceus was later synonymised under Torenia edentula Griff. (in Madras J. Lit. Sci. 4: 376. 1836) by Fernandez-Villar (in Naves Regel, l. c. ; Hooker, l. c. ). Additionally, the taxon exhibits a bi-lipped calyx and axillary, racemose, or pseudo-axillary inflorescences (Saldanha, l. c. ; Hong Liu Yamazaki, l. c. ; Dutta in Bull. Bot. Soc.
