With the development and emergence of numerous platforms, characters are becoming more important as a medium for efficient information delivery. According to the trend of the times, companies, institutions, and local governments are focusing on character development, and a large number of characters have already been developed. Jongno-gu is located in the center of Seoul and has the largest number of tourist destinations to represent our culture, and is a city visited by many tourists. Accordingly, Wang Beom-i and Bukak-i, characters who can reconsider the new image of Jongno-gu and promote Let's Jongro, a local festival, were developed based on the current trend design. The developed characters Wang Beom-i and Bukak-i used the names of Inwangsan Mountain and Bukak-i, other names of Bukhansan Mountain, representing Jongno-gu, and were produced by matching Tiger Wang-i and Magpie Bukak-i to the name and image of the mountain. Character design investigated design trends that were popular from 2020 to 2023, extracted keywords and examples that are good for use in character development. Through the characters developed through this, Jongno-gu was created to build an image to reach tourists in a new, friendly, and humorous way, and sell online and offline as promotions for various events and tourism.
