Introduction: Acute kidney injury (AKI) rarely occurs in isolation in critically ill patients and has a multifactorial etiology. Its incidence is increasing and is associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. Renal support therapies (RST) have become a routine and essential measure for managing patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). It is applied in 23.50% of patients with AKI (i.e., 13.5% of all ICU admissions), and its utilization has increased by more than 10% per year over the last decade.
