Siliceous fly ash is a pozzolanic supplementary cementitious material often used in cement and concrete production. The influence of the chemical, mineralogical and physical properties of 75 siliceous fly ashes on their reactivity was examined in this study. The reactivity was analyzed by relative mortar compressive strength and a rapid screening test (a version of the R³ test). A statistical data analysis was carried out to evaluate the factors influencing the reactivity of the ash. The screening test was found to be able to predict the reactivity within short periods of time, while the relative strength is not a good measure for reactivity. It was also found that the TiO2 and chloride content of the fly ash can serve as an indicator for its reactivity.
