The occurrence of unforeseen events at a power generation facility has led to a partial disruption of the national electricity grid, necessitating the use of emergency diesel generators (EDGs) to restore power supply to the affected region. This article aims to assess the performance of three distinct EDG power plants, which differ in their power capacities and the number of EDGs utilized, for both constant load and induction motor (IM) start-up scenarios. By leveraging Stamford Company's technical specifications and utilizing the EMTP-RV software tool, the EDGs were modeled and compared based on the same excitation system and governor parameters. The findings of this comparative analysis can offer significant cost savings to power plant operations while simultaneously improving overall system safety.
