Coils are designed to have impedance characteristics appropriate for any use of the sensors, analog circuits and so on. The impedance characteristics of a coil depends on the coil shape and used materials, and these factors make coil design difficult. Therefore, we proposed a convenient method to obtain the impedance characteristics of a coil by theoretical calculation of the inductance, resistance, and capacitance. The difference between the calculated and measured values was within 15%, which demonstrated the usefulness of the proposed method. © 2024 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.
