This study examines the impact of middle school students' perceived negative parenting attitudes on depression and the mediating variables of social withdrawal, peer relationships, and teacher relationships to gain an understanding of adolescent depression. Structural equation modeling was employed for analysis using data from the 2018 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS 2018) with 2,590 first-year middle school students. The results indicate that the mediating effect of social withdrawal in the relationship between middle school students' perceived negative parenting attitudes and depression was significant. Moreover, multiple mediating effects of social withdrawal, peer relationships, and teacher relationships were also significant in the relationship between middle school students' perceived negative parenting attitudes and depression. Based on these findings, discussions on preventive measures and interventions for adolescent depression in educational and counseling settings and local communities are provided, along with suggestions and implications for the limitations of this study and future research.
