As its positive effects to be recognized, it is expected that the demand for supportive housing will continue to increase. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the status of the current supportive housing environment in terms of its residential suitability to ensure the successful implementation of supportive housing to be supplied in the future. The purpose of study is to investigate the extent to which the physical environment of existing supportive housing was planned in consideration of the characteristics of the tenants, and propose improvements. For the research method used, a field study was conducted on the sampled supportive housing and interviews were conducted with managers. The results are as follows:BR First, supportive housing is provided with various types of areas, so idle areas occur accordingly. It is therefore necessary to set standards for space area and composition based on the characteristics of tenants. Second, the residential environment of current supportive housing does not consider factors such as the physical and mental disabilities of tenants, so each supportive housing unit should be planned in consideration of the characteristics of tenants. Third, the aging of tenants is inevitable due to the conditions of supportive housing contracts, which facilitate long-term residence. Therefore, barrier-free design must be applied to all types of supportive housing to support tenants
