A study to access the synthesis of chalcone derivatives from substituted hydroxyacetophenones with substituted benzaldehyde using basic alumina under microwave conditions offers several advantages over traditional methods. This includes a clean reaction process, simple workup and quick reaction times and high product yields. Characterization of the produced compounds was conducted using elemental analysis, 1 H NMR, IR and mass spectral data. Our study delves into the multifaceted biological activities of chalcones, shedding light on their potential as antibacterial and antifungal agents in combating a range of diseases. Through comprehensive biological investigations, we elucidate the significance of chalcones in modern drug discovery and development, offering insights into their diverse pharmacological properties and therapeutic potential.
