As I reflect on the memories of my dear friend Judi, a profound sadness fills my heart. She was more than a friend; she was a lifelong mentor, a beacon in both my personal and academic journeys. Her impact on me runs deep, and I will forever cherish the time we spent together .Photo 2Judi, Randy, Qi, and Ruishuang touring a park in BangkokView Large Image Figure ViewerDownload Hi-res image Download (PPT) One of my earliest memories is when Judi graciously assisted me in revising my first and second English papers back in 2012. Reflecting on it now, I realize the extent of her selflessness as she meticulously edited every word and sentence. Her attention to detail and steadfast encouragement boosted my confidence to submit my papers to prestigious journals. Beyond editing, she imparted invaluable lessons on presenting a qualitative study, knowledge that continues to shape my academic pursuits today. Judi was instrumental in motivating me to pursue my PhD, always reminding me to "Keep thinking PhD and look for ways and means to get there." She also encouraged me to attend the 1st AONS conference in Bangkok in 2013, marking my first international event. Before my research presentation, despite her busy schedule as a founder and organizer of the conference, Judi made a special effort to support me. I could sense her concern for my nerves as I prepared to speak in front of nursing experts from around the world! Following the conference, Judi, Randy, Qi, and I spent a wonderful day exploring Bangkok. We visited Siriraj Hospital, rode elephants, and toured a beautiful park. Those cherished memories still linger vividly in my mind In August 2015, when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, Judi was a pillar of strength from the beginning. Her timely email reassured me, emphasizing that the disease was treatable and curable, and reminding me to "Think about that same courage and determination and apply it to this situation." Through a series of emails and uplifting messages, she consistently raised my spirits, never allowing me to lose hope. Her unwavering positivity and support helped me through the darkest moments of my illness, for which I am eternally grateful. Judi's remarkable dedication to helping others was truly awe-inspiring. Her support for many students in Kenya to pursue their educational dreams exemplified the essence of kindness and generosity, inspiring me to extend a helping hand whenever possible. Although Judi is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the hearts she inspired. I will forever treasure the memories we shared and the invaluable lessons she imparted. Her words, "keep your spirits high," are etched on my heart, guiding me through life's challenges and reminding me to always stay positive. Rest in peace, dear Judi. You will always hold a special place in my heart!
