Under the OBE (Outcome-Based Education) concept, cultivating students’ autonomous learning ability is an important task in College English courses, requiring the joint efforts of teachers and students. Only by creating a positive learning environment, guiding students to set learning goals and plans, inspiring students’ interest in learning and self-motivation, and establishing effective feedback mechanisms, can students’ autonomous learning ability be effectively cultivated. This enhances their English proficiency and lays a solid foundation for their future development. This paper proposes strategies for cultivating students’ autonomous learning ability from the OBE concept perspective and in conjunction with the content of College English courses, aiming for students to continuously improve their comprehensive English learning ability through autonomous learning.
