Radio frequency (RF) power amplifier (PA) plays a crucial role in modern communication systems, and designing RF PA that meets various performance specifications (Specs) has become increasingly difficult due to the complex design space 1. This work proposes a community detection based parallel MOEA/D algorithm (CD-PMOEA/D) for RF PA design automation. The proposed approach shortens the design cycle by at least 3X and achieves ∼5% higher performance than that of the traditional MOEA/D method. As demonstrations, a common source PA with three optimization objectives is successfully designed within 1 hour, at a working frequency bandwidth of 23GHz-25GHz and reached a Power Gain of 14.3dB, OP 1dB of 17.9dBm, and DE@OP 1dB of 53.8%. A cascode PA with five optimization objectives at a working frequency of 28GHz is also successfully designed with similar time expenses, meeting all performance specifications. This work paves a new way for RF PA circuit design automation.
