The rise of ARM-based applications and technologies has revolutionized the computing world, with its energy-efficient processors and flexible design. However, their acceptance is still hindered by several challenges, as perceived by practicing software engineers. For example, ARM devices require ARM compiled software to run in native mode without emulation. Due to the vast library of legacy apps from the x86 and x64 architecture that needs to be migrated, many pieces of software require emulation to run on ARM processors. This research paper aims to present an anecdotal account and literature survey, highlighting the factors affecting the adoption of ARM-based applications and technologies, and offers possible solutions to overcome these challenges.
