This paper elucidates the operational features of the data acquisition and execution unit located within the process layer of advanced high-reliability substations. It investigates the transmission requirements associated with Sampled Values (SV) messages and Generic Object-Oriented Substation Events (GOOSE) messages. Subsequently, a design approach for the concurrent transmission of SV and GOOSE messages through a common port is presented. The devices at the process layer utilize time-division multiplexing on the transmission channel and leverage the time interval between two frames of sampled SV messages to send GOOSE messages. This strategy effectively addresses the message filtering challenge encountered by newer devices that use common port transmission for SV and GOOSE messages. A common port transmission model is implemented for SV and GOOSE messages, and the viability of this common port transmission is validated through the proposed modeling approach. Finally, the analysis of the example results indicates that the timing data for transmitting GOOSE message complies with the GOOSE re-transmission mechanism outlined in the IEC 61850 standard, and the data error is within the acceptable range.
