The article presents the beginnings of the Polish pedagogical press and its development duringthe partitions and in the years after regaining independence. The establishment of theSpecial Education Section of the Polish Public School Teachers' Association was initiated by thepublication of the periodical ‘Special School’ in 1924, the editor-in-chief of which was MariaGrzegorzewska. The magazine was addressed primarily to teachers and was intended to increasetheir interest in the issues of people with disabilities and special educational needs. Thestructure of the magazine proposed by Grzegorzewska has remained basically unchanged tothis day. It assumed the publication of scientific articles and articles devoted to teaching work,as well as reports on domestic and foreign events and new publications.
