The purpose of this study is to analyze the use of '-atseoseo/eotseoseo' in the spoken language of foreign Korean learners In addition, it is examined the reason for combining the past tense prefinal ending '-at/eot-' with the connected ending '-aseo/eoseo' from the perspective of discourse function. As a result, when the meaning function of '-aseo/eoseo' was a causal relationship, it was combined with '-at/eot-', and by using '-atseoseo/eotseoseo', there was an intention to give a different meaning than when using '-aseo/eoseo'. This was similar to the usage of native Korean speakers, indicating that the use of '-atseoseo/eotseoseo' seems grammatically acceptable in communication between foreign learners and native Korean speakers.
