This paper presents a methodology to improve transmission line traveling wave (TW)-based fault location (TWFL) procedures by combining promptly available results obtained from classical single- and double-ended TWFL methods widely available in off-the-shelf devices. The goal is to reduce TWFL errors caused by uncertainties in line electrical parameters and two-terminal data time misalignment, without requiring time-consuming fault record inspections. Real and simulated fault records are analyzed to assess the methodology performance. Obtained results demonstrate the proposed solution is indeed able to reduce the impacts of time synchronization errors and uncertainties in line parameters, being attractive for TWFL computational platforms.
