Priority programs of the 4T government in attention to the coffee sector in Chiapas, Mexico.

The impacts of the Sembrando Vida and Technical Accompaniment Strategy programs in the coffee sector of Chiapas, Mexico, are analyzed in contrast to the public and private initiatives that historically addressed the needs of this sector since the 1950s. This includes the organized responses of producers to the current challenges of the market. It is concluded that the implementation of these programs has yielded significant benefits for producers by adopting an agroecological approach, such as the ability to produce their own bioinputs, the revitalization of improved coffee varieties, and the incorporation of timber and fruit trees in agroforestry systems. Additionally, community participation in social development processes is emphasized. However, there is an observed setback in the organizational development of coffee producers, who previously collaborated through social organizations to engage in alternative market niches such as organic production and Fair Trade.
