In the article, the issue related to the research activities of education seekers in institutions of higher education is revealed, the foreign and domestic experience of training specialists is analyzed. The concept of research activity has been clarified. It has been established that a necessary component of the training of future biology teachers is research activity, the essence of which is the ability to research search, research training of education seekers through the introduction of more modern methods, techniques, means and forms of education into the educational process; scientific analysis and generalization of oneʼs practical experience; research activities for further improvement of the educational process of institutions of general secondary education in the role of a biology teacher; active search and self-improvement in professional activities. It is specified that the research skills of education seekers are formed during classroom classes and practical training. The research activities of students in higher education institutions can be organized in the structure of the educational process in the form of university-wide scientific events, writing term papers, qualification papers, and participation in scientific and practical conferences. Also, research activities of students are carried out during the work of student clubs, preparation of research projects, and participation in competitions.Research is an integral part of the process of training future teachers both in Ukraine and in other countries. In the educational process, the purpose of research activity is to acquire practical research skills by students as an effective way to learn biological knowledge, to activate research skills that are professionally important for future biology teachers. Research skills deepen the educational process and involve independent activities of students outside of educational programs.
