Reinforcement of Foundations in Difficult Conditions

The article analyzes the experience of strengthening foundations in difficult construction conditions when there are underground cavities under the foundation slab. The article also discusses the results of a study of the design problems of strengthening the foundations of reconstructed buildings. There is a brief overview of the construction conditions, analysis of the results of calculating the settlements of a high-rise building that stands on the basis with underground mines which is reinforced with piles and injection of cement mortar. Settlement monitoring was carried out during the construction of the building. Special attention is paid to comparing of calculated and actual deformation characteristics of the soil. For reconstructed buildings on slab foundations, the article presents the results of the development of engineering methods for calculating the reinforcement of the foundation with jet grout piles.
