Slow Transit Constipation (STC) is the most common type of constipation with a high prevalence.It is mainly characterized by poor defecation, reduced stool frequency, hard stool, abdominal distension and even long-term reliance on medication to assist defecation, etc.In recent years, Chinese medicine treatment of STC has become a research hotspot, which follows the holistic concept and personalized treatment according to the condition. In addition, the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine is obvious, with little toxic side effects and low cost. Combined with modern medical treatments, it can often achieve satisfactory results. Jichuan Decoction has the function and of warming the kidney benefiting the essence and purgative action, and is a classic formula for constipation in kidney yang deficiency. In this paper, the specific mechanism of Jichuan Decoction in treating STC is reviewed from the aspects of regulating abnormal expression of intestinal neurotransmitters, improving the expression level of Aquaporin, regulating the abnormal expression of interstitial cells of cajal, correcting the disorder of intestinal flora disturbance, and regulating the function of gastrointestinal smooth muscle, which is hoped to provide some useful references for the future clinical evaluation and the study of the mechanism of JichuanDecoction.
