ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, has a huge language model that allows it to generate original content in response to user prompts. ChatGPT can help with learning, writing, and assignment completion. The objective of this research is to examine the factors that impact the intention of students to use ChatGPT within the context of higher education. Students' intention to use ChatGPT was investigated through the application of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model, to which personal innovativeness and information accuracy were added as extension factors. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method was employed to analyze the data collected from 115 IT students. The results show that performance expectancy, social influence, personal innovativeness, and information accuracy significantly influence the intention to use ChatGPT. However, the results indicate that the intention to use ChatGPT is unaffected by effort expectancy and facilitating conditions constructs. Given that ChatGPT is a relatively new technology, it is anticipated that this study will serve as a foundation for further research on ChatGPT or similar AI technologies in higher education.
