Now there is a growing trend of transition from the Internet of personal computers to the Internet of things. In our society, electronic devices that improve our lives and interact with the Internet are increasingly common. Mobile phones, electronic keys, household appliances – all of them are equipped with processors and operate within the global Internet. Due to the growing demand for such devices, attention is being paid to the development of lightweight ciphers. In 2018, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) published a call for lightweight authenticated ciphers and hash functions for environments with software or hardware limitations. As a result, the development and analysis of lightweight cryptographic algorithms has become popular among researchers. The paper presents a new lightweight encryption algorithm LEA. LEA is a 48-bit symmetric block algorithm. It supports 60 bit secret key. The number of rounds is 4. The algorithm has the structure of a Feistel network. The developed lightweight algorithm has a simple implementation scheme, and the transformations used in this algorithm have good cryptographic properties.
