The improvement of computer hardware and software, the accumulation of large amounts of data contributed to the development of the direction of data mining and related educational data mining. This article is devoted to the issues of educational data mining. The introduction describes the relevance of the issue. The main part consists of two sections. The first one is devoted to the concept of educational data mining, the reasons for its occurrence, goals and objectives. The second section describes methods of educational data mining and their practical application. A variant of their practical application for improving the MPEI electronic educational environment is also considered.
